What do you do when the sun is shining but the waves are flat? Hit the skate park.
Skateboarding thrives in Tofino (alongside surfing) as a boardsport that moved from counterculture origins to widespread popularity, and now the Olympics. Whether skating the bowl or practicing an ollie, the Tuff City Skate Park at the Village Green is a centrally-located space to hang out. Kids and veteran skaters are welcome in this inclusive space, and you can often take in live music under the gazebo in the summer months, right from the park.
Skate culture is celebrated annually with the Westcoast Triple Plank competition in the spring - a fundraising event by Redd Fish Restoration Society. Commuting on the Tofino Multi-Use Path through town or to the beach is also swifter when you skate.
