Marnie Recker Photography + Art

Marnie Recker is a freelance photographer and artist based in Tofino. She has been working full time as a wedding and portrait photographer on the west coast since 2011. She also travels for editorial work and has a portfolio of nature and creative photography projects. 

She studied painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture and photography at Vancouver Island University, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Langara College, and the University of British Columbia. Her fascination of people and culture, had her pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts and Cultural Anthropology/ Archaeology, graduating from UBC in 2006. She began assisting wedding photographers in 2005 and her travels brought her opportunities to make this her life work.

More recently, she completed a graduate degree in clinical art therapy. She deeply values how art is medicine for the soul. She believes everyone is an artist and to come back to one’s creativity and imagination is the most healing thing we can do.

She also is building a portfolio of paintings and sells her work at markets, festivals and in her Etsy Shop. Her creative painting process is an exploration of mystical, spiritual, archetypal and earth-honouring themes.
