Where: Whaler’s On the Point Hostel on Main Street
Step back in time to learn how our past shapes our future.
This 45 minute tour will leave from the Whaler’s on the Point Hostel, at Naciks (Monks Point) a historic Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations village site. This location is also where the first pre-emption was purchased in 1893 by John Grice and where the first general store on the Esowista Peninsula was operated by Sing Lee. From here the tour takes us along the waterfront, once (and still) a saltwater highway. Learn about the history of historic houses, docks, and businesses as we walk along Main Street back to the Tofino Clayoquot Heritage Museum.
By donation, suggested $5-10 which includes admission into the museum when paid for the tour.
Get to know Tofino!
Highway 4 will remain closed overnight in both directions at Kennedy Lake. Please follow DriveBC for updates.
