Kayak to Klemtu
Director: Zoe Leigh Hopkins Act/Adv/Dr, Can, 2018, 92 min, PG
14-year-old Ella is determined to travel the length of the Inside Passage by kayak, along the shores of the Great Bear Rainforest, in order to testify against a proposed pipeline that would see oil tanker traffic through her beloved homeland waters. She’s prepared to handle all of the challenges the wildlife, the weather, the water, and her gear have to offer up. But he most challenging of all is that she has to bring her dysfunctional family with her. From Tla’Amin to Klemtu, BC, the family navigates their blend of cultures and desires, while their spirits honour the coast as a place for each of us to call home and protect.
Monday Night Movies in Tofino is a weekly film series run by The Clayoquot Sound Community Theatre Association. One film each month is a social issue documentary, often with discussion afterward. Doors open at 7:30 and shows begin at 8 pm every Monday. All proceeds from the door go to the CSCTA and are used to support the maintenance of, and programming in, the theatre. We hold two public performance licenses from Criterion Pictures in Vaughan, ON and Audio-Cine Films, Inc.in Montreal. There is also an All Organic Concession, serving Popcorn, Movie Bars & Tea.
