2026 Fall/Winter Campaign: Getting Here Is Part of the Getaway
THE THEME:
We continue to design campaigns that address travel barriers, identified by relevant research.
This messaging flips the negative perception of the length of time it can take to come to Tofino into a benefit; we're leaning into slow travel and encouraging travellers to enjoy the journey to Tofino.
THE TIMELINE:
The campaign launched on August 17 and wraps up on December 6.
THE AUDIENCE:
Most ads are being served regionally, targeting Albertans slightly more than BC travellers. We are also reaching a broader Canadian audience who views specialty US-based channels (including CNN, A&E, and MSNBC) on traditional tv as well as Connected tv, plus on Amazon Prime Video with our 30-second ad, below:
We return to successful tactics from past campaigns to reach potential travellers, while always testing something new.
As always, we reach target audiences by employing a variety of channels, including:
- Native ads that appear as article links across a network of websites
- Google Ads, which run year-round, and
- Meta (Instagram & Facebook), with video and static image ads.
Here's one of six video ads across Meta, featuring some familiar tastes & views:
Here are examples of static image ads:
Where do the ads take the user?
The ads are driving people to view and interact with these different blogs:
- Your Tofino Fall Itinerary
- Is Fall the Best Season to Visit Tofino? and, edited from its spring version,
- The Journey Is Part of the Getaway
