Paid advertising is an integral part of what we do at Tourism Tofino, as your destination marketing and management organization. We run ad campaigns at times of year that have been identified as opportunities for increasing occupancy rates and stimulating business.

We use paid advertising to reach audiences and motivate them to consider Tofino as a vacation destination, then plan and book their visit. We target potential visitors based on their location, interests (that can be seen by their online behaviour – sites they visit, search behaviour, etc.), and other factors like age.

Our 15-week paid advertising campaign to drive visitation in spring started on February 24th. Digital ads are being served to target audiences in BC, Alberta, and Washington. Additionally, a 30-second video is running across Canada on Connected and linear (traditional) TV.

We are continuing the idea used from our fall/winter campaign, with the less/more concept, highlighting there is more to enjoy while having to bear with less (or fewer) inconveniences when visiting in spring.

We're running inspirational video clips on TikTok - here is an example - with local faces you might recognize!

Below are two screen shots of another TikTok video ad, illustrating the less and more concept.

The Goal - Where do these ads take the user?

Our campaigns are divided into the three phases of the travel booking journey: to Dream, Plan, and Book.

While ads in the Dream phase focus on the user watching the whole video, the Plan phase ads lead the user to this visual, informative blog post about visiting Tofino in spring.

Ads in the final, Book phase of this campaign - with the end goal for people to book that Tofino getaway - drive the user to this Spring Packages & Offers page, featuring member accommodations.

These are a few examples of types of ads and tactics we're using to drive spring visitation. Please do not hesitate to reach out to if you would like more information.
