With March 8th marking International Women’s Day, and the entire month of March honouring Women’s History, there’s cause for celebration, especially in Tofino.

If you’ve visited here, you may have noticed the number of women who lead, create, inspire, and surf here. These photo galleries include (but a few of the) inspiring women in Tofino.  Here’s to the makers, mothers, business owners, and community builders we all know.

From top left, Maureen Fraser, founder of the Common Loaf Bake Shop, activist and volunteer; Krissy Montgomery, owner-operator of Surf Sister Surf School and co-founder of Queen of the Peak Women’s Surf Competition; Lilly Woodbury, Chapter Manager of Surfrider Foundation; Amorita Adair and her team at Gaia Grocery; Chef Lisa Ahier owner-operator of the former SoBo; Elizabeth George, Tla-o-qui-aht artisan at the Tofino Market; Tamara Neale of The Hobbyist Tofino; Dede Monette of Tofino Yoga; Arlene McGinnis, chair of the Tofino Hospital Foundation (with son Billy); Tina Windsor, who created Picnic Meats.

From top left, the ladies of the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust and the Pacific Rim Hospice Foundation; the late Dorothy Baert, longtime community activist and founder of Tofino Sea Kayaking; Sophie L’Homme, Tofino & Ucluelet former Choir Director and musician; Lisa Fletcher, jewelry designer; Laurie Boudreault, owner of Merge Tofino; Kelsey Hendricks, founder of Tofino Kombucha; Jen Thorpe, owner of Caravan Beach Shop and co-owner of The Shoreline Tofino.
