Mother's Day Gift Guide 2025

With Mother’s Day around the corner, we are thinking of all the caregivers, nurturers, and supporters who build us up in life and how we can say "thank you" for all that they do.
Showing our gratitude for the people we love and care about can take different forms - a phone call, quality time, or maybe a handmade gift. If you are looking for a special, only-in-Tofino gift for Mom this year - be that an experience together, artisan gift, or an escape - we've got you covered.
Adventure -
We all know an adventurous Mom (or Grandma) who wants to prioritize movement, and experience something different when they travel. Nudge them with a gift card for one of these activities:
- Guided kayaking excursion - whether it's a day trip for a couple of hours to an island or a multi-day paddle in the Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Region, this will be her sign to get out on the water.
- Hiking- Let her take time to breathe by wandering the many trails in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, or hopping on a quick boat ride to the Big Tree Trail in Meares Island Tribal Park. Looking for more of a sweat and breathtaking views? The Lone Cone Trail, also on Meares Island, is a 2km hike covering 700 meters of elevation for views of Načiks (Tofino) and Clayoquot Sound. The trail reopens May 1 and is exclusive to Ahous Adventures.
- Private surf lessons - Get Mom in the swell by booking her a surf lesson. The Tofino surf community is especially welcoming - try something new together!
- Fishing - Reeling in the catch of the day is hugely rewarding, with freiends or family. Prawns and halibut are in season in the spring, meaning you can prep a feast while she unwinds.
Rejuvenation -
We know that motherhood is a labour of love, so some R&R might just be what she needs. Once her stay is booked, add on a massage package or get her a gift card for a treatment when the time is right.
- Kelp Soak - Take a 15-minute boat ride from the Tofino harbour to a remote floating retreat where you will find Moon Jelly Bathhouse: a gazebo, a sky hammock over the ocean, and most importantly, two wood-fired soaking tubs where you can soak in kelp for the benefits of thalassotherapy. Moon Jelly can accommodate up to 10 people.
- Sauna and Cold Plunge - We've all heard of the benefits of sauna and cold water exposure...but have you ever done it in the Pacific Ocean? Make it a full-day experience by visiting Tofino Resort + Marina's remote floating sauna, or Tofino Boating Co.'s lagoon floating sauna out in Clayoquot Sound, or have a beachfront experience running into the water from a Tuff City Sauna (available on Cox Bay and MacKenzie Beach). *know the risks of cold water exposure before you attempt*
- Massage - With 10 different massage and body care providers in town, you can have your pick, whether from the newest spa addition - the Rainforest Spa at Long Beach Lodge Resort - or from Tofino Mobile Massage, bringing rest right to her doorstep!
Social -
This is for the mother figures who fill their cup in social settings - the foodies and the revellers.
- Tofino Wine and Dine - For those who like to sample the finer things in life, Tofino Wine and Dine on June 7 & 8, 2025, hosted at Tin Wis Resort, is the place to be! Two days of local and visiting chefs serving up beautiful amuse-bouches and lovely libations from BC brewers, distillers and winemakers.
- Music - With the newly renovated Clayoquot Sound Theatre, there are so many visiting artists across all genres coming to perform in Tofino. You can also catch Tofino Jazz Fest - mostly free outdoor shows June 26 to 29, 2025.
- Hit the Green - Enjoy a round of golf at the not-for-profit Long Beach Golf Course. Book a 9-hole Ladies' night on Tuesdays, starting May 13 to August 26, which includes a meal, skill and door prizes.
Artsy -
Whether she is a creative person herself or appreciates the work of talented craftspeople, here are some art-centric ideas for Mom:
- Tofino Market - plan a trip that includes a Saturday to enjoy the artisan market in Tofino, running every Saturday from May 17 to October 11, 2025.
- Galleries - Many artists are inspired by the West Coast - gift her a piece inspired by Tofino to have the energy of the sea and temperate rainforest in her home.
- Carving on the Edge - This celebration of carving on the coast is happening May 1 to 4. Tap into her creativity through a lino print-making or painting workshop.
- Locally made - Many boutiques in Tofino host artisan-made goods - from candles, to tea, to jewellery. Some examples include Merge Curated Goods, Tofino Tea Company, and Lisa Fletcher Jewellery.
Escapes:
- Multi-generational Escape - Book multiple beehive cabins at Ocean Village Resort for the kids to play on the beach right outside your accommodation, or run over to the grandparents' room. Let everyone have their own space while you enjoy inlet views by booking the entire Shoreline Tofino property (up to 12 guests).
- Girls Trip - Have the ultimate sleepover and enjoy ocenviews while you have coffee in bed at Cox Bay Beach Resort (right on Cox Bay) or Duffin Cove (a stone's throw from restaurants in town).
- Retreat with Older Kids - Stay in town to give your teens or young adults some freedom to explore town when you stay at the MAQ Hotel, or stay beachfront for board game nights and cook-offs in a vacation rental.
- Family Getaway - Plan a camping trip to Surf Grove for easy access to Cox Bay and amenities like a sauna, the Ukee Poke food truck and surf rentals onsite. Stay at Hotel Zed for all the fun amenities that bring out the kid in all of us, like a disco room, a hidden arcade, and a sunken lounge with board games galore.
