Tofino, BC, October 2, 2013Tourism Tofino today launched a multi-faceted marketing campaign celebrating the rise in popularity of the sport of surfing for all age groups, and Tofino’s worldwide reputation as Canada’s Surfing Capital.

The Tourism Tofino “Get Your Surf On” campaign includes:

Throughout October:

– “4-for-3” specials on surfing lessons and equipment rentals at 10 of Tofino’s surf schools and shops, as well as for travel on Tofino Bus. “Bring Your Fourth” advertisements encouraging group travel began appearing in regional media outlets in September.

October 5 – 6:

Queen of the Peak — Canada’s first and only all-women’s surfing championship

– Tourism Tofino’s Media Mingle — Accredited media will meet surfing pros and spend some time getting to know Tofino and its variety of accommodations, adventures and culinary offerings

October 15 – 16:

– Street-side surf-themed activities and giveaways featuring Tourism Tofino’s new surfing mascot “Sandy” and the mobile information centre “Chestervan” at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver in partnership with celebrated food purveyor, Tacofino.   250 coupons for fish tacos will be given out.

– “Tofino Tuesday” October 15, 5:00 pm – 9:00pm at the Tacofino Commissary, 2327 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, with food and drink specials featuring Tofino’s own Tofino Brewing Company.

“There’s really no better place in the world than Tofino to learn to surf or simply immerse yourself in surfing culture,” said Kirsten Soder, general manager of Tourism Tofino. “Our ‘Get Your Surf On’ campaign gives everyone the chance to see what surfing is all about — whether they’re catching a wave or watching from a cozy indoor fireside perch. Experienced and beginner surfers can also take advantage of our 4-for-3 offers to travel cost effectively, and share the whole road trip experience with friends and family.”
