Tofino is an awesome place to be a kid. Check out the list below of our favourite things to do with kids on your family vacation.
- Roll around - rent beach cruiser bicycles to travel between beaches and town. Or venture a little further afield to the ʔapsčiik t̓ašii (pronounced ups-cheek ta-shee) pathway through the National Park Reserve.
- Attend a Parks Canada presentation at Green Point Campground Theatre (open in summer), also in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
- Visit the gift shop at The Whale Centre, home to a massive grey whale skeleton.
- Roast wieners and marshmallows, build sandcastles, fly a kite. All to be done at the beach.
- Rent boogie boards and wetsuits to hit the waves, or visit Tofino’s inclusive Skatepark (Tuff City Skate Park).
- Take the family on a guided sea kayaking tour.
- The Raincoast Education Society programs free fun education activities in summer.
- Hotel Zed offers a rainbow of colour and of fun indoor and outdoor exploration – from its hidden arcade to a trail leading to the Tofino Mudflats through old growth forest.
- Observe Tidal Pools at Chesterman Beach or MacKenzie Beach, at low tide.
- Visit the playground at the Village Green, on Campbell Street.
- Explore the eye-catching Ucluelet Aquarium, complete with touch tanks (yes, you can touch the fish!) displaying local marine life from March through November.
- Find great children’s books, many of them written in British Columbia, at local bookstores and gift shops.
- Go for a round of miniature golf at the Long Beach Golf Course.
- Walk down to the Fourth Street Dock to witness a working dock in action with commercial and sport fishing boats, whale/bear watching vessels, and a fish weighing station! Please keep children supervised here.
