Tofino is an AWESOME place to be a kid.

There’s just so much fun to be had while exploring in and around Tofino!

Check out this list of our favourite things to do with young explorers on your family vacation and feel free to send us your personal favorites

  1. Check out the displays at the Kwisitis (formerly Wickaninnish) Visitor Centre in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
  2. Attend a Parks Canada presentation at Green Point Campground Theatre, also in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
  3. Visit the Whale Centre Museum, home to a massive grey whale skeleton.
  4. Roast wieners and marshmallows, build sandcastles, fly a kite. All to be done at the beach.
  5. Rent boogie boards and wetsuits to hit the waves, or visit Tofino’s Skatepark (Tuff City Skate Park).
  6. Take the family sea kayaking with a guide.
  7. The Raincoast Education Society programs free fun outdoor education activities in summer.
  8. Hotel Zed offers a rainbow of colour and of fun indoor and outdoor exploration – from its hidden arcade to a trail leading to the Tofino Mudflats through old growth forest.
  9. Observe Tidal Pools at Chesterman Beach or MacKenzie Beach (low tide required).
  10. Visit the playground at the Village Green, between Second and Third Streets on Campbell Street.
  11. Explore the eye-catching Ucluelet Aquarium, complete with touch tanks (yes, you can touch the fish!) displaying local marine life.
  12. Find great children’s books, many of them written in British Columbia, at local bookstores and gift shops.
  13. Go for a round of miniature golf at the Long Beach Golf Course.
  14. Visit the new Tuff City Skate Park, an inclusive space located at the Village Green.
  15. Walk down to the Fourth Street Dock to witness a working dock in action with commercial and sport fishing boats, whale/bear watching vessels, and a fish weighing station! Please be sure to keep children supervised here.
