As of noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 there is a campfire and beachfire ban for the Fog Zone, including the District of Tofino, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the District of Ucluelet. This is due to the lack of substantial rain in the last few months as well as minimal fog.

This ban does not apply to portable cooking stoves or campfire apparatus that are ULC or CSA approved, and use gas, propane, liquid fuels or briquettes, with a flame length of 15 centimetres or less.

Fireworks, burning barrels or cages, Tiki torches, sky lanterns, and the use of air curtain burners (forced air burner systems) are prohibited. There are currently no forest use restrictions in effect for the Coastal Fire Centre.

To report a wildfire or open burning violation, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or dial *5555 on a cellphone.
