Social distancing – it’s one of the buzzwords of 2020, and it’s easy to do in Tofino, where so much of our time is spent outside.  We’re highlighting some activities that allow you to maintain a 2 metre distance from others, while connecting on other levels.

1. Practice Outdoors with Tofino Yoga
Let yourself be guided through tree pose, surrounded by old-growth rainforest… while still under a roof, at the Tofino Botanical Gardens.  You may see some residents of the nearby chicken coop wandering about – all part of the fun!
View the schedule and reserve online here.

2. Cruise from Beach to Beach, on Two Wheels

Rent a bike from TOF Cycles Co. or Tofino Bike Co. or check with your accommodation provider who may have some on-site.  Put on that helmet, and go for a ride along the Multi-Use Path, to access Chesterman, Cox Bay and MacKenzie Beaches.  Pick up goods at Chocolate Tofino, and pedal into town toward a local eatery, like SoBo or Wolf In the Fog.
Consult Tofino restaurants here, and check ahead for availability.

3. Join a Flash Clean Friday with Surfrider Pacific Rim
Come for a quick beach clean, happening every Friday morning, with the dedicated volunteers of our local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.  Bring gloves and bucket (a child’s sand pail will do), and feel good while keeping our coast beautiful.
Follow Surfrider Pacific Rim for the next location on Facebook or Instagram.

4. Propel Yourself – In a Sea Kayak
Kayak the waters of Clayoquot Sound and discover its breathtaking scenery on a 2.5 hour tour.  Or, join an in-depth exploration of remote beaches, rainforest, and tidal flats on less-travelled routes and inlets.  Tours start at $65 per person.

5. Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) on Calm Water
After instruction on the beach, paddle out and get that peaceful feeling of being on the water (plus a solid workout!)  Opt for a SUP tour on MacKenzie Beach, or on inlet waters.  Either way, you’ll see Tofino from a different perspective, while enjoying the view with fellow paddlers.
