Wesley Ridge Wildfire-Highway 4 Remains Open
The Wesley Creek Wildfire is approximately 144 km (2.5 hours) east of Tofino between Parksville and Port Alberni.
Travellers are advised that Highway 4 remains open. There are no planned closures at this time. Keeping Highway 4 open and safe remains a top priority for BC Wildfire and other responding agencies. Crews have made good progress on improving containment to better protect residences, properties, the Highway 4 corridor and critical infrastructure. If conditions change, any closures will be kept as brief as possible. An alternative route is being assessed if needed.
For your safety and the safety of others:
- Plan for extra travel time
- Do NOT stop along the highway to observe the wildfire
- Obey all posted speed limits
- Use caution as visibility may be affected by smoke
Drivers are reminded to always carry an emergency vehicle kit, including:
- Food and water
- Phone charger and battery bank
- Personal medications
- First aid kit
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- Extra clothing and footwear
- Blankets
