It’s been over 25 years since Lewis and Cathy George created this successful First Nations owned and operated enterprise in Tofino B.C. Lewis & Cathy spoke with some of the local Elders and came up with the name of “Himwitsa”, which is derived from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth language translating as “Story Telling and the passing of knowledge from Elder to Youth”.

At the House of Himwitsa Native Art Gallery, we specializing in fair trade First Nations artwork, handcrafted by our region’s most talented and innovative native artisan’s. Come view some of the world’s most sought after award-winning, authentic First Nations rare woven baskets, Maquinna hats, masks, carvings and jewelry. Each creation has a story to tell.

We offer worldwide shipping for all of our artwork, which can be viewed in gallery or in our online store.
