When a Tofitian says they’re going to the beach, they mean this one.

This “w” or “m” shaped stretch of sand measures 2.7 kilometres and is lined with beautiful homes. Its north end is home to the Wickaninnish Inn.

  • Access:
North Chesterman Beach is accessed via the gravel parking lot on a short, unpaved trail. There is a slight incline when descending to the beach and a beach-friendly wheelchair is highly recommended.  In winter and spring, the incline may be more uneven, with potential rocks or driftwood moved from high tides.
  • Accessible parking spots
  • Explore tide pools at low tide to find sea stars, anemones and more marine life forms.
  • Watch surf instructors teaching new surfers the basics of riding their first wave.
  • Start or end your walk with a visit to the Driftwood Café at the Wickaninnish Inn, located at the far North end of the beach.
  • Pause to watch the setting sun sink into the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink + orange.
