Come watch Waterman, about Duke Kahanamoku, an Indigenous Hawaiian olympic swimmer who popularized surfing in american culture.

Guest Speaker Lacy Kaheaku from Kanalu Hawai’i will present a short talk to introduce the movie and share some of her cultural teachings, plus show off some of her traditional surfboards.

All proceeds go to Kanalu Hawai’i, a non-profit focused on preserving and teaching Indigenous Hawai’ian culture, and to Multhaa Rising Tide Surf Club, a Nuu-chah-nulth surf club.

Tickets are $20, at the door of the Clayoquot Sound Community Theatre.
