When it comes to combining travel with learning, and outdoor discovery with transformative experiences, the west coast of Vancouver Island is full of life – and eye-opening opportunities.
Whether you're a solo explorer, a teacher seeking an amazing outdoor academic experience, a grandparent looking to do something different with your family or a group of friends searching for a different kind of travel experience, the West Coast is an extraordinary place to discover.
Tourism Ucluelet, Tourism Tofino and the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust–alongside other key partners in the region–saw the need to connect people with the often life-changing learning adventures offered along our rugged west coast of British Columbia. Spanning from Hesquiaht First Nation in the north, to Ucluelet in the south, one could call it the ultimate outdoor classroom.
Together, this collaboration of community organizations supported the development of WestCoastNEST.org, an online hub for a range of outdoor courses, certification and personal development programs.
Adventure lovers of all ages and abilities are invited to experience:
Family-friendly camps, cultural and interpretive walks
Multi-day workshops and academic field-courses on the fundamentals of animal tracking, the science of seaweed, and more
Certification programs on outdoor leadership, paddling, first-aid, and yoga
